Refrigerated Containers FAQs

How can I rent a reefer container?

A reefer container, or a refrigerated container, can be hired through us at S Jones. The process is the exact same as our usual hire services however, the refrigerator will need to be commissioned on site due to it needing to be plugged in to work. For more information on renting a container, please head to our container hire page or get in touch with our team.

How are shipping containers kept cold?

Refrigerated shipping containers are kept cool through built-in units that control and regulate the internal temperature. The container channels chilled air from the bottom and maintains a cool airflow around the container. We have some useful further guidance on our ‘What Is A Reefer Container’ guide.

What are the sizes and options for a refrigerated container?

Reefer containers usually come in various sizes, typically 10ft and 20ft, and are designed to function in harsh outdoor conditions, making these a versatile cold storage solution whether you’re storing a small or large amount of goods.

What’s the difference between a reefer container and an insulated container?

One of the main differences between a reefer container and an insulated container is that a reefer has an active cooling system usually powered by electricity, whereas insulated containers do not and are designed to maintain the internal temperature by preventing heat transfer.

Shazia was helpful from my first enquiry to the delivery of my container. She sorted any query and enabled me to buy exactly what I was looking for. The driver who delivered container was also a credit to his company. Nothing was too much trouble and everything done with a smile .
