When Spacial Installations contacted our team in 2021 to provide shipping containers for an Amalfi Coast villa-inspired Peroni bar, our expert Conversions team quickly rose to the challenge. Since then, we’ve supplied bespoke containers for two further unique creative projects, including most recently a space inspired by New York’s Flatiron building.
The customer
Founded in 2006, Spacial Installations designs and builds impressive sets for the event and entertainment industries. Creating spaces for some of the best-known brands, Spacial Installations is known for its bold and innovative designs.
The challenge and the result
Following the success of ‘The House of Peroni’ bar at London’s Hyde Park, which comprised eight 20ft and two 40ft shipping containers, Spacial Installations contacted our team to supply five modified 30ft shipping containers for its striking Japanese temple-style ‘Sakura’ bar project.
Our team were then contacted to supply modified shipping containers for a third creative project – this time, a multi-purpose large building for the AMEX British Summer Time Festival at Hyde Park in London. Inspired by New York’s infamous Flatiron building, this impressive event installation was created using 18 40ft shipping containers, modified by our expert Conversions team.
The labour-intensive process involved modifying each of the 18 containers to ensure Spacial Installations could build and install the space within a strict deadline ahead of the festival. Our team worked to ensure all aspects were built to tight tolerances so that all containers could line up and join together correctly during installation. As the building required a flat piece of steel on the top to act as a rain guard, but the containers would be stacked, our Conversions team had to carefully consider and work around how far this would protrude into the next container.
The finished results for all three projects were real masterpieces, and we’re delighted to play a role in transforming previously used shipping containers into such standout creative spaces.
Commenting on the trio of projects with Spacial Installations, S Jones Containers’ Head of Conversions, Andrew Nicholls, said:
“We’re proud to have played a part in the transformation of previously used shipping containers into visually striking, unique event spaces. The finished results for all three projects were real masterpieces, and we’re delighted to play a role in transforming previously used shipping containers into such standout creative spaces.
All three of our projects with Spacial Installations demonstrate the limitless possibilities of what can be created from shipping containers with a combination of creativity and our expertise in bespoke modifications.”
