The Customer
UNDO, a sister company to The Future Forest Company, are ‘harnessing the power of nature for a greener future’ by developing processes that reverse climate change and maximise the amount of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere. UNDO’s goal is to be the first company to remove over a billion tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere and make carbon removal accessible to all.
The Challenge
UNDO needed a mobile research facility situated in Scotland to understand the carbon offsetting potential of the ground. The laboratory would comprise a limitless working environment with electrical and water features, refrigerators, equipment storage to conduct water and soil samples and a compartment for spades/augers and similar apparatus.
The ability to connect power, with an umbilical connection between containers, was a standout requirement to allow for an expandable power network to support future containers.
The Solution
We designed and built two bespoke 20ft container laboratories, carefully tailored to UNDO’s specific requirements. Each unit was fully weatherproofed and insulated to handle Scotland’s harsh weather, with integrated electrical and water systems to create a practical, plug-and-play working environment.
To support scientific work, we installed airtight personnel doors and windows that allowed natural light to enter while helping to minimise contamination. The internal layout was optimised for usability, with dedicated space for equipment storage, refrigeration, and sample analysis.
The result was a flexible, mobile lab solution that could be easily deployed in remote locations. Both units can be transported between forest sites as needed, enabling UNDO to carry out vital environmental research with minimal setup time and maximum operational efficiency.

What the Customer Had to Say
“Working with S Jones Containers on this project was a pleasure. The conversions team were enthusiastic about the project and took the time to understand our specific needs for the units, such as a metal-free interior for one lab. They were flexible to our requests and produced two functional lab spaces for our team to carry out vital sustainability testing for years to come.”
